"You did NOT just say that!!"

I frequently get this look from people.. its because I don't have a filter and often say things of a "dirty" nature. I can't help it. Okay, I can help it, but I don't want to. Its too funny.

A future snuggler??

Okay, so Kapri NEVER snuggles.. well in the past she never did. I would pick her up when she was in a dead sleep and the dang kid wouldn't even lay her head against me. I love snuggles so it was really bumming me out. However.. yesterday she snuggled TWICE!!! And for more than a second, it was for MINUTES!! Seriously, I am so excited. An unhealthy amount of excitedness is creeping in my bones!! I even made Cody take a picture to document it. Hopefully this is a sneak peak into my snuggling future!!

Let's CELEBRATE!!!

We celebrated Kapri's half birthday yesterday. CRAZY!! I cannot believe six whole months have gone by since I pushed that kid outta my womb. We had some of my family over for a BBQ and Strawberry Short Cake!!

Happy Half Birthday Boog!!

Oooh.. this is all for me?

After dinner we went to the park, where Kapri and her cousin Addison enjoyed eating watermelon for the first time!! She wasn't so sure about it at first, but we all know Kapri and food.. she was thoroughly enjoying it in the end.

Wrong end kiddo..

After we cleaned up their watermelon mess, we put them in the swing together. Miss "normally easy goin'" Addison wasn't much of a fan. Probably didn't help at all that we woke her up from her nap to drag her over there.

*Please note their "difference in size".. we have lil' miss petie Addie on the right, and big ol' chunker Kapri on the left. Both ends of the spectrum here people, we don't discriminate.

Cadence and Ashlyn even took her on the tire swing!! The whole time I was paranoid that she was going to get her poor little fingers pinched in the twirling chain.

I've loved every minute of the last six months and I can't wait for whats to come!!

We love you Kapri!!

Kapri is pretty good at entertaining herself.. especially since she has recently found her feet. She'll spend an hour spinning herself in circles on her back. Today I laid down a blanket, gave her a few toys and headed in the bathroom for a quick shower. When I got out, no more than ten minutes later, I heard her fussing. Not screaming people.. I wouldn't even call it a cry. A small, un-happy with something, fuss. So I hurried and dried off, (I apologize if this, in any way, has caused you to picture me wet and naked.. ha ha, I'm sure if you weren't thinking it before, you are now. My apologies.) and came running to her rescue. Or walking, it was only a fuss, afterall.

Here's what I found...

The poor kid had pulled her headband down over her eyes. (Please stop commenting on how headbands are a choking hazard.. and I should never leave her alone with one.) I pulled the headband back into its place, and she went on playing.

Really Mom.. more pictures?

Yes Kapri, more pictures. I can't help it remember, shutterfingeropolis. Or something like that. Its a real disease. Look it up.

So the other day we were waiting for Josh and Shonni to meet us for pictures and I decided to take some of Kapri. Don't act surprised. I'm very predictible at this point.

Anyhoo.. she's sittin' up like its nothin'. Like she's been doing it all along. She does really well until she see's that rattle to her left.. and she leans. Then she's a gone-er.

I wonder.. if when she's older.. will she look at her friends and wonder why their mom's aren't constantly taking pictures of them. Whats wrong with them mommy? Why doesn't their mom love them as much as you love me?? Because you see, that is why I take pictures of her.. and that is what I will tell her. It goes along with all those other "mommy sayings" I cannot wait to say. Examples: Because I said so!!! Because I'm the mom!!

Oh the things I have to look forward to!!

Happy Mother's Day!!

So this time last year I was "with child". I thought that should count for being a mother, which meant Cody should have praised, massaged and loved me extra on that day. He disagreed. Shonni was great enough to find a card at the store that said "Happy Mother's Day to the mom to be".. thinking it might change his mind. It didn't.

Well guess what Cody... this year it really does count!! Cause I'm a mom, I'm a mother, I am the freaking parent to this beautiful child!!

Seriously though, being a mom is the most rewarding thing I have done in my life. Every morning when I stand over her bed and she smiles that huge toothless grin up at me I can't help but think I am the luckiest person in the world. I have a healthy, happy baby (not to mention stinkin' adorable).. and a supporting and super sexy husband whom I love even more now that he's my baby's Daddy!!

Going into the hospital on the day she was born I had no idea how much having a baby was going to change my life, its not something you can imagine. Its crazy how much love you feel for this little person immediately. And then they just send it home with you.. its odd leaving with a baby when you went in with a very large belly and an empty car seat. One day you're trying to imagine what your baby might be like and now, almost six months later, we're getting to see her little personality.

So Happy Mother's Day to all my fellow poopy diaper changers, spit up cleaner uppers, boo boo kissers, dinner cooking moms!! And an especially BIG Happy Mother's Day to my mom who helped make me who I am today!! Love you Mom!!

I love big flowers and double chins.

P.S. I'm not sure Kapri does.

Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall...

Kapri is sitting up on her own!! Well.. she still face plants it after a little bit but she's definitely making progress. The funny thing is, she won't even try unless you bribe her with toys. I'm sure this is what she's thinking.. "What? You think I'm going to perform with no perks? What do you think this is, a free show?"

Timber...

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..

We took Kapri swimming for her first time on Saturday. I'm pretty sure she loved it. She especially loved watching all the other kids playing. So much, in fact, that we had a really hard time getting her to look at the camera for pictures. We would turn her turtle tube so she'd be looking at the camera, and as we turned her head would slowly turn in the opposite direction. She didn't want to take her eyes off the entertainment. She's a stinker, just like her father. Hopefully she'll get some of my traits. You know, kind, courteous, soft spoken. Okay, maybe not so soft spoken.
