MOAB!!!

We were lucky enough to be invited to visit Moab, Utah with some friends over the weekend of June 12th. We were in dire need of a getaway, and were happy to spend time with some old friends.

My friend Bree's grandparents own a condo right on the golf course, and man are the views SPECTACULAR!! Unfortunately, her grandpa passed away the week before, so I think it was a bittersweet trip for her.

Bree, Kim and I have been friends since high school. Long gone are the days of sneaking out to hang out with older boys, and ditching class to meet up at the local Walker's gas station. We all just happened to have babies within a month and a half of eachother. So Bree and Chad have 4 year old Reese, and Stella who is 8 1/2 months old. Kim and Kree have Ethan who is 8 months old. And then me and Cody have Kapri who is 7 months old. It definitely wasn't planned, but I love that it happened that way because its gotten us to see eachother more lately. Luckily, we're the type of friends who can go months without talking or seeing eachother, and we just pick right up where we left off.

We all met up at Bree's on Friday at noon so that we could make the trip down together. On our way over I got a text from Bree saying that Kree had broken his elbow and they were going to be late. I made a rather large "GASP" when I read the text and Cody just about ran us off the road. But really, I don't think I'd ever heard of someone breaking their elbow. He was skateboarding and fell. I was glad to hear they were still making the trip.

Chad had decided that the guys should ride together in one car, and the girls in the other. So, Chad, Kree and Cody rode in one car with Stella and Reese. (I'm sure you're thinking "who would put a four year old in a car with 3 guys?", but don't you worry. Bree had her thinking cap on and had already gotten the headphones hooked up to the dvd player. So she didn't hear a thing, that we're aware of. That Bree is a smart one.)

So in our car it was me, Bree, Kim, Ethan and Kapri. It was a lot of fun to be able to catch up for the entire 3 and a half hour drive. I don't believe we had a moment of silence, or lack of something to talk about. The kids even slept most of the way, and were happy for the part they were awake.

We got there that evening, unpacked the cars, cooked dinner, hung out for a while, and then called it a night.

The next morning Bree made a delicious french toast and turkey bacon (mmmmm) breakfast. The kids all played together, stealing toys and sharing germs, (which almost ended up in a chicken pox pandemic, but luckily didn't).

We are wondering which girl will get the boy. This could get ugly.

We cleaned up and got ready to go for a couple short hikes in the Arches National Park. First we went and saw the Balanced Rock. I swear that sucker was gonna fall right on top of us. Its going to fall one day, and I feel bad for the people who happen to be under it when it does.

Thank goodness for our Maya Wraps, they saved our backs.

Next we walked up to the Double Arch. Poor Cody, the one thing I forgot to bring was a pair of tennis shoes.. he had to hike in flip flops!! I got the horrible wife award for the day. Luckily, we only went on the short walks because we had the babies.

After those two adventures, the kids were tired and we were all hungry. We headed back to the condo to fix some lunch and put the kids down for a nap. Kim made some delicious sloppy joes to eat, and we all relaxed for a while.

Once the babies woke up we headed over to the pool. If the dang sun would have stayed out it would've been a little nicer, but it kept hiding behind the clouds. I guess we should've sang to it, "Oh Mr. Sun, sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on me!!" Too bad I didn't think of that before.

Reese was sweet enough to pull Kapri around the pool in her tube, and she loved it of course. Reese was entertaining her the entire time. She deserves a reward of some sort.

I attempted to get a pictures of the guys with the babies. When I viewed the pictures after I realized that Kree wasn't even looking at the camera!! When I called him on it he said he was thinking. Ha ha!! No worries, I got a good "non-thinking" one.

This kid loves the water and splashes like crazy!!

Not to mention, she's a daredevil. The higher the better!!

After swimming, everyone was worn out. I'm pretty sure the majority of us took a nap. After we showered and made ourselves decent we headed into town to do some window shopping.

When you look at this last picture, you might just think that Ethan is worn out and probably just needs a nap. Any other day you might be right, but today you're wrong. Let me back up a little, when we came back from swimming he took a small tumble from the bed. His leg hit the ground, but Kim caught him before the rest of him hit. He cried for a few minutes, we thought it probably just scared him. Then we went on merrily through the day. Well, come to find out, the poor kid had broken his leg in the fall!! What a tough kid!! He fussed a little, but nothing to make us think that his femer was fractured!! Poor Ethan! Hope it heals fast kiddo!!

Team McPherron got our first set of friendship bracelets.. I'm hoping to make it a tradition for every trip to Moab. (We're hoping there are some in our future, even if its just the three of us.) I'm sure you are saying how dorky we are, dumb friendship bracelets, how lame. But secretly, you're jealous, and thats okay. I wish I had a picture of them to show you the awesomeness.

We headed back to the condo, after making a stop at the local grocer to pick up GIANT Cheetos.. have you seen those suckers? They're nearly impossible to eat. In fact, out with the old stuffing your mouth with marshmallows game, and in with the making fun of people eating GIANT cheeto puffs game!! I wish I had gotten pictures of it.

We made some frozen pizzas for dinner, and then had sundaes to celebrate my birthday!! Mmmmm.. were they delicious, covered in crumbled Reeses and caramel. After we put the kids down for dinner all of the adults played a game of Imagine If. (Minus poor broken elbow Kree who stayed up in the room with Ethan because he was having a hard time sleeping. Probably do to the un-discovered broken leg he was suffering from.) We learned a lot about everyone.. including Chad's Battle of Bulge and large sausage. Ha ha, guess you had to be there. I think we all might've had the tired sillies. Which, in my opinion, makes for a much more entertaining night.

The next morning I made a mountain man breakfast for everyone, I very much enjoyed it. Hopefully everyone else did too. It was all eaten, which means one of two things. It was delicious, or they choked it down so I didn't feel bad.
Guess I'll never know.

Reese was making Kapri laugh her head off. Reese would hit her in the chest and Kapri would pee her pants laughing!! (Good thing she wears diapers. Hopefully she didn't inherit her mom's weak bladder.)

After we cleaned up breakfast, we cleaned the condo and packed up all of our crap. (Yes, crap. Cause thats all it is.) Bree made us a fantastic Turkey and Tomato panini lunch, and then we headed home.

I wish we had gotten a picture of the whole group. It was so much fun, we loved every minute of it!! Thanks again Bree for inviting us!!
